Most people think they
cannot save because
they do not make a lot of
money. This myth does not
apply to Enkhbatar, 40 years
of age and was an elementary
drop out. Because of
poverty and lack of employment
he was forced to collect
empty bottles and garbage
from the street and
sells it.
He came to know the
Lord Jesus five years ago
when a friend invited him to
attend a church. In the Jesus
Assembly church he accepted
Jesus as his Lord and
savior. He lives with his
brother who is sick and
whom he takes cares all his
needs.
Based in Erdenet, third
largest city in Mongolia,
Jesus Assembly church is
one of the biggest churches
in Mongolia. Jesus Assembly
also is implementing the
Community Advancement
Savings Habit program. This
church is also one of the
active churches implementing
CASH. Enkhbatar is a
member of CASH. He demonstrated
an example of
good stewardship to his
church. Enkhbatar joined
CASH in November 2004.
While he does not have a
permanent job, he consistently
saves in CASH from
the money he earned selling
empty bottles. He has the
highest savings among CASH
members in his church and
the whole of Erdenet.
Just recently, Enkhbatar
has been chosen as one
of the outstanding CASH
members. When he received
the cash award, he spoke to
CASH Coordinators that he
is motivated to save because
life is uncertain and he believes
that his savings will
make a difference in his life.
He became a big encouragement
to others members.
His example serves as a reminder
to everyone that you
don’t have to have a lot of
money to save. He is very
thankful to Mina-JCS and
World Relief partnerships for
initiating CASH in his church.
