Hope for the Future

Hope for the Future

JCS International’s Hope for the Future project was implemented from 2003 to 2007. The project was a weapon against poverty and hunger among families in Mandal Soum in Selenge Province. It also aimed at helping them build their lives in a purposeful way and helping them survive difficult circumstances by improving their diet.

The project gave citizens a chance to improve their food supply by helping them herd livestock, grow vegetables, and run a small business.

In 2004 there were about 55 families that took part in the project; by October 31, 2007, as the project was coming to an end, there were 112 families that grew vegetables and 58 families that herded livestock. Also, 100 families were involved in setting up small businesses; 240 times micro-credit was granted.

During the project, many people were trained in the areas of herding livestock, growing vegetables, running a small business and making felt and felt products.
